MODERN TRAINS RANT

Modern trains are rubbish !!! You can't open the windows for fresh air and the air conditioning is crap (too cold in the summer usually, like sitting in a fridge), the seats are often hard as rocks, legroom is diminished, the announcers are mostly recordings, toilets have those stupid automatic doors that are often broken. They're fucking bent !! Today I was on a train and the driver forgot to open the electronic doors so I couldn't even get off. Bring back the old trains that had comfy springy seats, the right temperature, had windows that opened, doors that weren't automatic (surely safer in an emergency when you need to get off quickly), an announcer that wasn't a bunch of samples and a toilet that may be horrible but at least you could use it 9 times out of 10. The windows are the worst thing by a long way though, the best were the old trains were you could pull it all the way down and stick your head out, I feel jealous when I watch old movies of lovers kissing and waving to eachother out the windows as the train chugs off, now you just have to sit there like a fucking Goldfish in your hermetically sealed polythene bag. Even if you can open the window a bit it's surely better and safer than having them permanently closed. I do hate air conditioning if it's not needed, it just makes you feel shit and lethargic, pollution isn't so bad everywhere yet that you can't breathe the air outside which is infinitely better for you. I suppose it's meant to be modern and futuristic but it's more like being on a plane with that bad air. Derrr.
Trains like a lot of things these days (buildings especially) are left to get run down so people complain about them and so you get new ones to replace them which are nearly always inferior to the old but temporarily fulfill a paperweight notion of progress and modernity....Oh and quite a few people get extremely rich during the process no doubt. Oh yeah and talking of money, sort out the prices. It's cheaper to go to a long way abroad on a plane than it is to go halfway across this country on a train. And it's not like the high prices give you any kind of luxury. Bring back the days of the Orient Express !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
